Two Châteauguay youth football teams faced off in a season match on September 22nd. The Blazers from Howard S. Billings High School and the Grenadiers from Louis-Philippe-Paré School (LPP) are forming a new regional rivalry that promotes respect between the two sports organizations.

« It was a unique match, and we would like to have more events like this with the Blazers, » said Grenadiers’ head coach, José Perrier, in an interview after the game at the new synthetic sports field at Louis-Philippe-Paré High School. « It’s been 50 years since Howard S. Billings High School had a football team. So, the most important thing this year was to create our team. We are very happy, » exclaimed Blazers’ general manager, Charles Ghorayeb, in an interview. Before the match on September 22nd, LPP’s youth football organization had asked its fans in the stands to show respect for the Blazers. During the game, LPP supporters were enthusiastic in cheering for their team without being unpleasant to the opponents.

Match Results

The Grenadiers emerged victorious, winning the match with a score of 37-0. Louis-Philippe-Paré’s offense and defense were dominant from start to finish. « Our players were excited and pumped up. They stayed focused and took it one play at a time, » mentioned Mr. Perrier. With strong energy coming the Grenadiers’ fans in the stands, the Howard S. Billings team felt destabilized, explained Mr. Ghorayeb in an interview. « Our guys didn’t react well to the large crowd. Our quarterback felt a bit nervous. However, credit must be given to LPP, who deserved the final score, » he concluded.
