The contract for the construction of an indoor aquatic complex in Châteauguay has not been awarded yet as the Beau-Château Board is « checking certain technicalities. » Four companies have submitted bids for this project, with prices ranging from $28.8 million to $36 million.
The request for proposal process concluded on September 18th. Several Châteauguay citizens have inquired with the city about the progress of the project. « We don’t have an announcement to make yet, » said Châteauguay Mayor Éric Allard at the Beau-Château Board meeting on October 19th. « Things are going well, but we need to review certain technicalities. » Châteauguay residents have been without an indoor pool for almost a year due to the emergency closure and demolition of the aging Polydium Sports Center.
Third request for proposal
The project for a new indoor pool was put on hold in June 2022 because the bid amounts received were too high compared to the project’s estimates and the municipalities’ ability to pay. The bids at that time ranged between $47 million and $49 million. The Beau-Château Board, composed of the cities of Châteauguay and Beauharnois, secured a $14 million grant for the indoor aquatic complex project in Châteauguay in 2021. The new request for proposal has been modified to be presented with three options: Option A, considered a priority, includes a pool with ten swimming lanes. Option B would add a water game area with slides and modules, while Option C would include a small wading pool.
