If the schedule is followed, the official opening of the Maison des Aînés in Châteauguay could take place in February 2024, according to Catherine Brousseau, Media Relations Advisor for the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de la Montéégie-Ouest(CISSSMO).

The first users should be housed from that date.
Completion of the 120-place building is slated for this fall according to a fact sheet from the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS).
Once finished, operationalization by the CISSS is expected to take some 8 to 12 weeks, to provide time for staff to be trained in their units, prior to welcoming the first residents to La Maison.
In March, the budget for the Châteauguay Maison des Aînés was $102 million.
The construction of the Maisons des aînés and Maisons alternatives is being overseen by the Société québécoise des infrastructures.
The Société has to deal with « an overheated market, combined with a labour shortage in the construction industry, as well as difficulties in obtaining supplies of certain materials and equipment parts, which continue to apply pressure on delivery times, » as stated in an e-mail sent to the newspaper.
