Permanent partial opening of the Châteauguay Bus Terminal

le mercredi 30 août 2023

Part of the new permanent bus loop became operational at the Châteauguay terminus on August 21st. The bus stop for route 28 was relocated to platform 9, while the other bus shelters returned to their usual locations on boulevard Saint-Jean-Baptiste.

“This is an important stage in the redevelopment of the Châteauguay terminus,” said Jean-Maxime St-Hilaire, exo’s media relations advisor, in an email to the newspaper.

This change led to the disappearance of the temporary bus loop, where bus 28 was in operation.

Stops on lines 1, 21, 22, 26, 27, 31, 32, 90 and 111 have not been affected by this new opening. However, most of them will be transferred to the new permanent bus loop once the work has been completed, scheduled for spring 2024, explained Mr. St-Hilaire.

Until then, a portion of the new permanent loop will continue to be used by the construction teams.

To get to the bus shelter on line 28, users need to use the pedestrian crossing that leads to platform 9. If you have a car, you will need to park in the park-and-ride lot and then use that same pedestrian crossing.

Upcoming Work

Only three stages remain before the new Châteauguay terminus is fully operational. These are as follows:

-Completion of the bus loop and installation of technological and customer information equipment;

-Continuation of the construction of the new service centre;

Completion and gradual paving of the park-and-ride facility.
